Mommy Break Your Way Through Dabble
Once you commit to regular self-care, variety in those self-care activities will be important to keep you motivated as well to make you feel like you are not just a Mom. I am sure we can all recall our life pre-mommy and the activities that we enjoyed as hobbies. My pre-mommy life included knitting classes, book clubs (reading the book, not a requirement) and wine tastings. When you become a mom it is easy to lose sight of those interests and re-direct all of your energy and focus on your children especially in the first 3 - 5 years.
Every mom at some point in their mommy-walk will wake up and yearn to get back to who they used to be. Once you have the desire to return to your whole self there is no turning back. Recently one of my mommy-friends mentioned that she wanted to get back to some of the arts and crafts activities she used to enjoy. I quickly mentioned Dabble as the perfect source to do re-discover her passions. Returning to your “pre-mommy” self is also the opportunity to re-invent yourself which may include new interests and hobbies. For instance, I used to love to knit but a friend recently exposed me to leather-making and I am eager to try another class.
Dabble, is a Chicago-based company that curates unique experiences across the country to learn something new or re-discover an old hobby. They completely take the guesswork out of it. All you need to do is make the time and grab some girlfriends or better yet even go by yourself. From glass blowing to candle-making to calligraphy and shoemaking, there is not an experience they don’t offer. You could spend an entire year just trying a new Dabble experience each month. (That’s actually a really good idea…)
Yes, a mani-pedi and an occasional massage are always good for a mommy break but why not spice up the routine so you don’t defer to your usual standbys. The variety that Dabble offers may also provide the intrinsic motivation you need to schedule regular self-care. You have nothing to lose and a new passion to gain! I hope that you join me in “dabbling” in a few new things in 2019.

About Our Guest:
Nicole is a working mom living in Chicago with her two beautiful children and husband. In 2017, she embarked on a journey to take at least one mommy break once a week for a year. She blogged throughout the journey on the cool experiences I enjoyed as well as some of the ups and downs. In that year, Nicole took over 70 mommy breaks!! She learned much about herself on the journey and received confirmation on how critical me time was to my mommy existence. Since completing that mission, she is more committed than ever to help moms be intentional about their self care as well. #selfcarechallenge
