Dabble's 2019 Summer Festival Guide

Summer is here which means it's time for one of our favorite Chicago past times - festivals! We love getting out to the various different neighborhoods and fests to eat, drink, and Dabble in something new! Below are just a few choice picks courtesy of Do312 (you can see their complete list here). Heading out to one of these great fests? Keep your eyes peeled, you may see some of the Dabble team handing out swag!

 

1. Do Division

When: Friday, May 31 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 1 10:00 pm
Where: Divison and Damen

Do Division Street Fest takes place on Division Street between Damen and Leavitt in West Town Chicago and features two live music stages, a wide variety of local vendors and food, plenty of ice cold beer, wine and spirits, a dedicated Family Fun Fest area with family activities and stage (which exclusively benefits local elementary schools), plus Do Fashion with local designer runway shows and DJs.

2. Chicago Blues Festival

When: Friday, June 7 - Sunday, June 9
Where: Millenium Park

Experience Chicago’s rich blues music legacy at the 36th Annual Chicago Blues Festival happening Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9 in Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph St.). The Chicago Blues Festival will celebrate the genre’s music legacy in Chicago with live performances on six stages by the local and national blues artists in the city’s premier outdoor music venue.

3. 19th Annual Rib Fest

When: Friday, June 14 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 16 10:00 pm
Where: Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park and Berteau

Chicago’s favorite food and music fest lights it up with the coolest bands and hottest barbecue to celebrate its nineteenth summer this year. Chicago’s first rib festival started in 1999 from humble beginnings in a north side parking lot and eventually grew from 5,000 attendees to 70,000 fans in 2014 – the year it was televised to 100 million households and 150 countries on the Food Network’s “Eating America with Anthony Anderson.” As a nationally-recognized music festival featuring top local and touring acts, twenty bands make up a tasty blend of indie, pop, rock, indie roots and alt country for one of the hottest original lineups in the city.

4. Andersonville Midsommarfest

When: Friday, June 7 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 9 10:00 pm
Where: Foster and Clark

One of Chicago’s most legendary street festivals and Andersonville’s quintessential yearly celebration, Andersonville Midsommarfest, returns for its 54th year in 2019.

The yearly event, which, according to ChicagoPride, will “help kick off the Chicago summer neighborhood street festival season” will gather enthusiastic Chicagoans for a weekend filled with tangy international food, energetic entertainment, exclusive artisans and vendors, and a family-friendly array of interactive activities. Midsommarfest is one of the most diverse festivals in Chicago. There is really something for everyone at this must-attend festivity.

Born out of Andersonville’s Swedish heritage, Midsommarfest will transport you back to the old-world Swedish traditions. Dance around the Maypole, test flavorful international food and you can experience it all without the use of a passport! Plus, family friendly activities will allow for children of all ages to enjoy a pet parade and face painting, all while appreciating a beautiful June weekend!

Suggested donation is $10 and all the proceeds benefit the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce. The money raised at Midsommarfest goes to support programming and events in Andersonville during the rest of the year, including Andersonville Arts Weekend, holiday events, the Sidewalk Sale, and support services to keep incredible local businesses healthy and strong.

5. Chicago Pride Fest

When: Saturday, June 22-23
Where: Boystown

The weekend before the 2019 Chicago Pride Parade in Boystown, the Chicago Pride Fest® starts the celebration!

Performing LIVE on 4 stages: LeAnn Rimes - Betty Who - Pabllo Vittar - Alex Newell - Ultra Naté - Inaya Day - Leland - Jaimie Wilson - Adam Barta - Too White Crew - The Txlips - Emergency Tiara and more!

Chicago Pride Fest® June 22-23, is an exciting two-day street festival held the weekend before the Chicago Pride Parade, celebrating LGBTQ+ life, culture and community. This year marks a milestone as we honor the 50 years since Stonewall, the birth of the Pride movement.

And the OUT at Wrigley National Anthem Singing Contest, 100+ arts/craft and merchant vendors, DJ’s and dancing, drag shows, fashion show, pet parade, sponsor booths and more.

The festival is easily accessible via the CTA Red Line Addison station at historic Wrigley Field, also multiple bus lines, and rideshare car/cab services with convenient access to downtown hotels and other lodging.

Chicago Pride Fest benefits the Northalsted Business Alliance, a 501(c)(6) non-profit chamber of commerce for Boystown, Chicago’s Proudest Neighborhood.

6. Logan Square Arts Fest

When: Friday, June 29 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 30 10:00 pm
Where: Logan Square Monument

The Logan Square Arts Festival is back for its 11th year! Featuring artists, local food and drink, and live performances by Hop Along, The Beths, Future Generations, Sweet Crude, Froth, No Men, Mykele Deville, Half Gringa, Wyatt Waddell and many more to be announced!

The Logan Square Arts Festival is a three-day celebration of the creativity, diversity, and vitality of Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. The festival features two stages of live music, visual art, performance art, dance, food, and drinks, all presented in the heart of Logan Square.v$5 suggested donation

7. West Fest

When: Friday, July 5th - July 7th
Where: Chicago Avenue (between Damen & Wood)

West Fest Chicago is an annual street festival in Chicago’s West Town Community on Chicago Avenue between Damen Avenue and Wood Street. West Fest began in 2004 and has since grown into one of Chicago’s most prominent and well attended street festivals. West Fest Chicago stands out from the rest because it is locally planned and produced by the West Town Chamber of Commerce, thus the emphasis is on local offerings and talent.

8. Square Roots Craft Brew + Music Festival

When: Friday, July 12 5:00 pm - Sunday, July 14 9:00 pm
Where: Lincoln Square

The Old Town School of Folk Music and the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce's craft beer and music experience in Chicago's Lincoln Square is right around the corner. Expect multiple music stages, both inside the Old Town School and outside on Lincoln Avenue, programmed with a vibrant mix of performers from local indie rockers to world music stars to Old Town School teaching artists and students, paired with the best local and regional craft breweries offering a wide variety of beers. Explore all the Old Town School of Folk Music has to offer: concerts, classes, jams, and more! Dine on amazing food from choice restaurants in Lincoln Square. 9. Volleywood

When: Saturday, July 14 from 11 AM to 7 PM
Where: North Avenue Beach

Volleywood featuring Corona Electric Beach is back Saturday, July 14th at North Avenue Beach, and it's going to be bigger and better than ever. This all-day blowout will feature some of the most talented DJ names in the music industry. With a huge 70,000 square foot beer garden, a VIP lounge and Cabanas, it's going to be a summer experience unlike any other.

10. Wicker Park Fest

When: Friday July 26 - Sunday, July 28
Where: Milwaukee and Damen

One of Chicago’s most anticipated summer events, Wicker Park Fest, is returning July 26th – 28th for a Sweet 16 party! The 3-day festival that Chicago magazine and Chicago Tribune have previously called one of the “best” of the year famously features some of the most acclaimed live music of the season, with four stages and entertainment for all tastes and ages. Chicago’s biggest street fest (in terms of city blocks) reflects Wicker Park’s rich music and cultural heritage, with over 50 bands and an entire area dedicated to interactive art and inspired installations. If that’s not enough flavor, the annual weekend bash also includes over 100 vendors – a colorful mix of neighborhood restaurants, boutiques and artisans, worldly dancers, and the ever-popular Kids Fest. A $10 gate donation (which makes it the steal of summer event season) benefits the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, a local non-profit specializing in small business assistance.

11. Northalsted Market Days

When: Saturday, August 10 11:00 am - Sunday, August 11 10:00 pm
Where: Belmon & Halstead

Estimated attendance approaches 200,000 people from near and far, representing all colors of the rainbow!

Founded in 1980, the celebration now spans 1/2 mile of North Halsted in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood – America’s first recognized gay village – from Addison to Belmont.

Market Days® is easily accessed via the CTA Red Line Addison station at the historic Wrigley Field, CTA
