Dabble's 2018 Summer Festival Guide

Summer is here which means it's time for one of our favorite Chicago past times - festivals! We love getting out to the various different neighborhoods and fests to eat, drink, and Dabble in something new! Below are just a few choice picks courtesy of Do312 (you can see their complete list here). Heading out to one of these great fests? Keep your eyes peeled, you may see some of the Dabble team handing out swag!


1. Do Division

When: Friday, June 1 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 3 10:00 pm
Where: Divison and Damen

Chicago’s quintessential summer street festival is also one of the first of the season. Now in its 12th year, Do Division Street Fest & Sidewalk Sale is set to rock West Town June 1 – 3 with the return of over 10 blocks of local food, shopping, art and of course, electrifying live tunes on Division between Damen and Leavitt. 2017’s blacktop bash includes two fests-within-a-fest; the Family Fun Fest and Do Fashion Fest, in addition to a multi-block sidewalk sale, crafts, artisans and lots of ice cold beer and local eats.

2. Chicago Blues Festival

When: Friday, June 8 - Sunday, June 10
Where: Millenium Park

The Chicago Blues Festival is the largest free blues festival in the world and remains the largest of Chicago's Music Festivals. During three days on five stages, more than 500,000 blues fans prove that Chicago is the "Blues Capital of the World." Past performers include Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, B.B. King, the late Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy and the late Koko Taylor.

3. 19th Annual Rib Fest

When: Friday, June 8 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 10 10:00 pm
Where: Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park and Berteau

Chicago’s favorite food and music fest lights it up with the coolest bands and hottest barbecue to celebrate its nineteenth summer this year. Chicago’s first rib festival started in 1999 from humble beginnings in a north side parking lot and eventually grew from 5,000 attendees to 70,000 fans in 2014 – the year it was televised to 100 million households and 150 countries on the Food Network’s “Eating America with Anthony Anderson.” As a nationally-recognized music festival featuring top local and touring acts, twenty bands make up a tasty blend of indie, pop, rock, indie roots and alt country for one of the hottest original lineups in the city.

4. Andersonville Midsommarfest

When: Friday, June 8 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 1 10:00 pm
Where: Foster and Clark

One of Chicago’s most legendary street festivals and Andersonville’s quintessential yearly celebration, Andersonville Midsommarfest, returns for its 53rd year in 2018. The yearly event, which, according to ChicagoPride, will “help kick off the Chicago summer neighborhood street festival season” will gather enthusiastic Chicagoans for a weekend filled with tangy international food, energetic entertainment, exclusive artisans and vendors, and a family-friendly array of interactive activities. Midsommarfest is one of the most diverse festivals in Chicago. There is really something for everyone at this must-attend festivity.

5. Chicago Pride Fest

When: Saturday, June 16-17
Where: Boystown

Chicago Pride Fest®, June 16-17, 2018, is an exciting two-day street festival held the weekend leading up to the Chicago Pride Parade with up to 100,000 expected to attend, celebrating LGBTQ life, culture, and community.

The festival features live music by popular artists, 3 stages, food and drink, 100+ arts/craft and merchant vendors, DJ’s and dancing, drag shows, pet parade, sponsor booths and more.

Join us this summer for a love-filled celebration of diversity, equality, and the Chicago LGBTQ community at Halsted Street and Addison in Boystown, America’s first recognized gay village.

The festival is easily accessible via the CTA Red Line Addison station at historic Wrigleyfield, also multiple bus lines, and rideshare car/cab services with convenient access to downtown hotels and other lodging.

Chicago Pride Fest benefits the Northalsted Business Alliance, a 501(c)(6) non-profit chamber of commerce for Boystown, Chicago’s Proudest Neighborhood.

6. Logan Square Arts Fest

When: Friday, June 22 5:00 pm - Sunday, June 24 10:00 pm
Where: Logan Square Monument

Join us in the Logan Square circle for live music, art, crafts, comedy, kids activities, putt putt golf and more! With beer from Revolution Brewing, cocktails from The Whistler, sangria from Lula Cafe, coffee from Dark Matter Coffee, and food from The Harding Tavern and other local restaurants.

7. Square Roots Craft Brew + Music Festival

When: Friday, July 13 5:00 pm - Sunday, July 15 9:00 pm
Where: Lincoln Square

The Old Town School of Folk Music and the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce's craft beer and music experience in Chicago's Lincoln Square is right around the corner. Expect multiple music stages, both inside the Old Town School and outside on Lincoln Avenue, programmed with a vibrant mix of performers from local indie rockers to world music stars to Old Town School teaching artists and students, paired with the best local and regional craft breweries offering a wide variety of beers. Explore all the Old Town School of Folk Music has to offer: concerts, classes, jams, and more! Dine on amazing food from choice restaurants in Lincoln Square. Join in the fun with nightly dance parties, open jams, and plenty of family activities.

8. Volleywood

When: Saturday, July 14 from 11 AM to 7 PM
Where: North Avenue Beach

Volleywood featuring Corona Electric Beach is back Saturday, July 14th at North Avenue Beach, and it's going to be bigger and better than ever. This all-day blowout will feature some of the most talented DJ names in the music industry. With a huge 70,000 square foot beer garden, a VIP lounge and Cabanas, it's going to be a summer experience unlike any other.

9. Wicker Park Fest

When: Saturday, July 27 - Sunday, July 29
Where: Milwaukee and Damen

In celebration of its 15th milestone season, Wicker Park Fest 2018 is expanding from two to three days! The street festival that Chicago Magazine and Chicago Tribune have called the "best" of the year returns July 27 - 29. Always one of the city's most anticipated summer events, Wicker Park Fest attracts visitors from across the Midwest with its stellar music line-up and diverse selection of participants. Chicago's longest (in terms of length) neighborhood festival reflects Wicker Park's rich musical heritage, eclectic artistry and acclaimed dining scenes. Building on the area's unique character, the weekend pays homage to the neighborhood with over 50 bands on four stages, area restaurants and over 120 merchant vendors, Kids Fest, Interactive Arts Exhibit, Sculpture Installation and three nights of live Fashion Shows. A $10 gate donation (which makes it the steal of summer event season) benefits the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, a local non-profit specializing in small business assistance.

10. Northalsted Market Days

When: Saturday, August 11 11:00 am - Sunday, August 12 10:00 pm
Where: 3700 N. Halsted St.

Market Days brings together an exciting mix of music, vendors, arts, food and drinks to create one unforgettable experience. 

Located on North Halsted Street between Belmont and Addison in Boystown, the festival spans 6 city blocks complete with 5 stages and over 40 performers that will keep you feeling the music all weekend long. Crowds from across the globe come to the heart of Chicago’s LGBTQ neighborhood to celebrate life, love, friends and summer during this unique and extra fabulous weekend. Celebrating our 36th year we look forward to celebrating with you soon!
